of the Lone Star Duals Provides Opportunity to See Nation's Best Wrestlers

. . . For the second year in a row, a high school team from Oklahoma took home the trophy for top place. Lawton defeated the Martin High School Warriors in the championship round 40-33. In the 17 team women's tournament, Arlington High School led the way with 105 points, followed by host school South Grand Prairie with 102 points. Vanessa Epps of Frisco captured the title at 138 while Frisco Centennial's Lene Wood took the 95 title. Ashley Weber joined teammate Kacee Ravenberg in capturing the 165 and 185 weight classes respectively with 4- 0 records. Valerie Ward of Sam Houston High School posted a 3- 0 record at 215 while teammate Semaj Langston took the 128 weight class with four victories. Other title winners were Tiffany Larriba of Southlake Carroll, Crystal Molinar of South Grand Prairie, Tessa Plana from Coppell, and Candy Guevara of Arlington High School. On Saturday, Kendall Cross, the 1996 Gold Medalist in
the Olympic Games and standout wrestler at Oklahoma State University watched the
competition. Kendall later handed out the awards to the winners of the high
school competitions.
